Well, to follow up on Essay 2, posted awhile ago by yours truly: in my opinion the essay on making a criterion-based evaluation was a bomb: students were so overwhelmed by the emotions of disliking the movie (Edge of America) that they couldn’t focus on the assignment, to use concepts from Pearson to evaluate archetypal characterizations in the movie.

So, Essay 3 is based on the same premise (making a criterion-based evaluation) but taking what they liked from their Blue Crush essay and enlarging the paper with their choice of a documentary (Tupac: Resurrection) or Edge of America and Chapter 21 of Pearson, “Claiming Your Life Myth.”  It’s my hope that they will not bog down on the format (since they have already written this type of thing last time) but will be able to combine two “outside sources” (the movies) and use criterion derived from Pearson to complete a reasoned analysis.  They are very smart people, so if they can understand my written assignment, I bet they do fine!
